This morning, as a community and as a nation, we reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Twenty-four years ago, our country endured one of the darkest days in its history. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost, families were forever changed, and our sense of security was shaken. Yet, in that moment of unimaginable grief, acts of courage, sacrifice, and unity shone through.
Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and countless others ran toward danger when so many were trying to escape it. Many of them never came home. Their selflessness and bravery remain an everlasting reminder of what it truly means to serve.
As we remember those who perished, both the innocent victims and the heroes who gave their lives, we also honor the resilience of our nation. We remember the days following September 11, when communities across the country came together in strength, compassion, and unity.
Let today serve as a reminder to never take a single moment for granted. Let it inspire us to look out for one another, to value service above self, and to hold tightly to the freedoms we are blessed with.
To the families who still carry the weight of loss, and to the first responders who continue to bear the scars of that day, we stand with you, and we will never forget.
We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
