HELP US HELP YOU – ADOPT A HYDRANT

Guilford just powered through a historic winter storm. Snowbanks are high. Hydrants are buried. Access is tight.

Now we need your help. When a hydrant is covered in snow, firefighters lose valuable time digging before we can connect to water. In a fire, seconds matter. Quick water saves homes, pets, and lives.

We have a lot of hydrants across Guilford. After a storm like this, many of them disappear under snow. We cannot clear them all alone. Here’s where you can help us help you.

Make it a family mission. Grab the shovels. Pick the hydrant closest to your home.

Clear it the right way:

• Clear snow directly in front

• Clear at least 3 feet on all sides

• Make a clear path from the street

• Pile snow far enough away so it does not slide back

Turn it into a family activity. Take photos of your crew in action. Kids love the responsibility. Neighbors notice. The whole block benefits.

Post your hydrant clearing photos and tag Guilford Fire Department so we can share your hard work. Let’s show how this community steps up when it counts.

Adopt a hydrant. Protect your neighborhood.

Help us help you.
