During this critical period, probationary members are expected to gain comprehensive knowledge of the department's operations and become proficient in operating various apparatus. The weight of this responsibility can be overwhelming, but with the guidance and support of their fellow officers and firefighters, John and Michael have risen to the challenge.


Meet John Guarnaccia:

Hailing from Old Saybrook, John Guarnaccia brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the Guilford Fire Department. In addition to his duties in Guilford, John also volunteers with the Old Saybrook Fire Department, showcasing his commitment to serving the community. John's dedication to his craft is further demonstrated by his educational background, which includes a degree in Fire Arson Investigation from the University of New Haven. With an impressive nine years of experience in the fire service, John has consistently shown his passion for ensuring the safety and well-being of Guilford residents.


Meet Michael Terrio:

Michael Terrio is a lifelong resident of Madison, CT, and his roots run deep in the community. In addition to his role with the Guilford Fire Department, Michael serves as a volunteer firefighter for Madison Hose, demonstrating his commitment to both his hometown and Guilford. Michael's local expertise and dedication to firefighting make him a valuable asset to the department and the people of Guilford.


Assistant Fire Chief Michael Shove commented on the achievement, stating, "Completing probation is a significant milestone in a firefighter's career. It requires dedication, hard work, and a commitment to learning. John and Michael have not only met but exceeded our expectations during this crucial period.
