Guilford Professional Firefighters Receive Recognition Awards

First Selectman Matt Hoey has announced that Guilford Fire Department Captain Clint Haverkampf and Captain Jim Considine have been named recipients of the Guilford Employee Recognition Award, for October and September 2021. Hoey, who initiated this program, has encouraged all employees to nominate other employees who should be recognized for outstanding achievement and performance in their work. The Employee Recognition Awards Committee selected Haverkampf and Considine who received nominations from Assistant Fire Chief Michael Shove, Finance Director Maryjane Malavasi. and Fire Department Administrative Assistant Kate King.

Shove commended Captain Haverkampf for doing an exceptional job, not just in coordinating internal departmental

issues, but also for working so closely with the Health Department on “managing vaccination coordination for employees, vaccination clinics for the community, and reporting COVID-19 case response efforts.” Shove cited the fact that Haverkampf had recently received an Administration Commendation Ribbon from the Guilford Fire Department for his leading role in the command staff of the Emergency Operations Center during the COVID-19 outbreak. Malavasi praised Haverkampf for his assistance to her department in putting together many grant applications. She specifically commended him for his work with FEMA, who requires very precise record keeping and has specific forms required for their reimbursement requests. “Clint has taken on the challenge of providing the documentation necessary for us to apply for thousands of dollars of regular and overtime reimbursement. I have said many times that we all work together as a team to make things happen, and Clint has been a vital member of that team.” Haverkampf has been a Town of Guilford Professional Firefighter since 2002 and was promoted to the Rank of Captain in 2007. He received an Employee Recognition Award certificate as well as a gift card from First Selectman Hoey, in recognition of his achievements.

Shove commended Captain Considine for doing an exceptional job, not just in coordinating internal departmental issues, but also for working so closely with the Health Department on “managing vaccination coordination for employees, vaccination clinics for the community, and reporting COVID-19 case response efforts.” Shove cited the fact that Considine had recently received an Administration Commendation Ribbon from the Guilford Fire Department for his leading role in the command staff of the Emergency Operations Center during the COVID-19 outbreak. King stated that she is “constantly amazed at what Jim has accomplished. He worked tirelessly to ensure all firefighters and first responders were vaccinated when the vaccine became available. Scheduling appointments for everyone for both vaccines was a monumental task, but he took it on without complaint. Jim had fire department medics qualify to administer the vaccine to the general public on the Monday clinics at the Rec Center.” Considine has been a Town of Guilford Professional Firefighter since 2004 and was promoted to the Rank of Captain in 2017. He received an Employee Recognition Award certificate as well as a gift card from First Selectman Hoey, in recognition of his achievements.
