Guilford Fire Department to host Fall EMT Program

Phone Charger Explodes

Yesterday afternoon the Guilford Fire Department responded to a residence to check a phone charger that had caught fire and exploded. The owner of the portable battery charger stated that the portable charger was charged approximately 2 hours before the charger caught fire and exploded. The charger was not plugged into an electrical outlet and was lying on a desktop at the time of the fire. Please use caution if you have these types of portable chargers that contain lithium-ion batteries. Do not leave them on any combustible items such as beds and couches and do not leave them unattended while you are recharging the battery pack.

Guilford Fire Department Hires Two New Firefighters

Guilford Fire Department welcomes our two newest employees Firefighter/Paramedic Ashley Vargoshe and Firefighter/EMT Daniel Post. They recently began their Guilford Firefighting careers on Monday filling two recently vacated positions. Both firefighters are assigned to day shifts for their initial training. During this time both Ashley and Dan will be going through extensive training and review of the departments operations to prepare them for their shift assignment. Ashley is 28 years old born and raised in Madison, CT and has been an active volunteer firefighter with North Madison and Clinton Fire Departments.
