Winter Storm Update
From First Selectman Matt Hoey
Early this morning, we opened the Emergency Operations Center to address the impact from the storm. We are experiencing widespread power outages due to a significant number of downed trees.
We had crews working throughout the night to remove trees that did not involve wires to allow for access to roads for plowing and emergency vehicles. We continue to work to remove trees and have engaged private contractors to assist in the effort.
We are working closely with Eversource resources to begin restoration efforts. Their priorities are as follows: 1. Priority 1/E-911 issues. 2. Overall assessment. 3. Tree removal involving wires. 4. Restoration.
At this time, there are no formal estimates on full service restoration. We will provide updates as they become available.
