Providing advanced life support with skill, urgency and compassion.

Our firefighter/EMTs and paramedics combine rapid response, continuous training and a deep commitment to Guilford to deliver high-quality care when our neighbors need it most.

Approximately 85% of the Guilford Fire Department’s calls are medical emergencies, resulting in thousands of patient transports each year. Our EMS Division operates four medical units with two staffed around the clock ensuring advanced life support capability on every medical response. Guilford’s EMTs and paramedics complete extensive initial education, clinical training and certification requirements, followed by ongoing continuing education and regular skills evaluations. This commitment to professional development keeps our providers prepared to deliver knowledgeable, compassionate and high-quality care throughout the community.

Guilford Fire Headquarters serves as a safe disposal location for used needles and portable fire extinguishers. All needles and other sharps must be secured inside an approved, puncture-resistant sharps container before they are brought to Headquarters—loose needles, bags or open containers cannot be accepted. Fire extinguishers should be brought separately and must not be placed inside a sharps container.
