Volunteer Division
The Guilford Fire Department’s volunteer division is a long-standing and essential part of the town’s emergency response system, working alongside career personnel as part of a career/volunteer combination fire department that serves Guilford through five stations. The volunteer membership includes a large portion of the department’s personnel, supporting fire suppression, EMS, rescue operations, and incident response across the community’s diverse call load, which is heavily driven by medical emergencies as well as fire and rescue incidents. Volunteers train regularly, meet the same operational expectations as career staff in many assignments, and are integrated into the department’s unified command structure to ensure safe and effective responses. Their involvement reflects a strong tradition of community service and “neighbors helping neighbors,” helping the department maintain rapid response capabilities while fostering local engagement, leadership development, and continuity of service within the town.
