Our team is made up of dedicated men and women selected through a competitive process that includes a written examination, oral board and interviews. Members are held to the highest professional standards and maintain specialized training, certifications and credentials to meet the department’s diverse emergency-response responsibilities.

Career personnel are organized into four shifts working a 24-hours-on, 72-hours-off rotation. Each shift is led by a captain who oversees daily staffing, readiness and operations, supported by the department’s senior officers.
