Guilford Fire Department Adds New Marine Unit To Its Fleet

The Guilford Fire Department recently took delivery of a 30 foot MetalCraft Marine Firefighting Vessel. This was a two year long project that involved researching funding opportunities and securing a manufactuer that would provide the department with a vessel that met the needs of the department. A federal grant in the amount of $337,00 was awarded to the department for the purchase of a new Public Safety Vessel. Members of the Marine division planned and designed the boat to include some special features that would allow the crew to perform emergency operations in complete darkness as well as provide water supply to land firefighting efforts. Currently, Marine Captains and Crew members are attending extensive training sessions that are required for the Marine Division to operate the boat.
