Guilford Fire Department adds manpower

Guilford Fire Department has added new members to the roster. The department applied for an was awarded funding from the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response grant. The Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grants (SAFER) was created to provide funding directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations to help them increase or maintain the number of trained, "front line" firefighters available in their communities. The goal of SAFER is to enhance the local fire departments' abilities to comply with staffing, response and operational standards. Congratulations and welcome to The Guilford Fire Department. Guilford Firefighters Receive Awards

On November 12, 2017 members of the Guilford Fire Department were providing EMS coverage for a road race at the Guilford Fairgrounds. At the finish line one of the runners went into Cardiac Arrest. Today these members were honored at the Yale New Haven EMS awards luncheon for successfully reviving the runner. The patient as well as his family members and friends were also present at the awards luncheon. Great gob and congratulations to all those that were involved. Award recipients: Deputy Chief Rob Augur, Captain Chris Gode, Firefighter Paramedic Graham Dale, Firefighter EMT John Dudley, Firefighter EMT Doug MaGee, and EMT Alexandra Demitrack.

Branford Exchange Club: Honoring Shoreline Heroes 2018

On May 1st Branford Exchange Club hosted The Honor Our Shoreline Heroes Awards event at Woodwins in Branford. This annual event recognized 8 of the finest and bravest serving the towns of East Haven, Branford, North Branford, and Guilford,” including Captain Dan Fisher of the Guilford Volunteer Fire Department. Serving the department for over 29 years, and has held the rank of Captain for Eagle Hose Company 2 for the past 16 years. He has held numerous positions while serving the department including Captain of the dive team from 1992-2003 and is currently serving his 12th year as an adviser for the Guilford Fire Department Cadet Program.
