Assistant Chief Wayne Vetre Retires

Members of The Guilford Fire Department would like to wish Assistant Chief Wayne Vetre the very best on his retirement from The Guilford Fire Department. Assistant Chief Vetre has taken on a new role as the new Fire Chief of The Wells Fire Department in Wells, Maine. Assistant Chief Vetre has devoted over 41 years to The Guilford Fire Department beginning his career as a Volunteer Firefighter and working his way up to Assistant Chief. Good Luck Chief!

This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, “Don’t Wait – Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years,” represents the final year of our three-year effort to educate the public about basic but essential elements of smoke alarm safety. Why focus on smoke alarms three years in a row? Because NFPA’s survey data shows that the public has many misconceptions about smoke alarms, which may put them at increased risk in the event of a home fire.
