Firefighter Caught In Flashover
Baltimore City Firefighter who was almost caught in a flashover. He is on the 2nd floor of a 2 story rowhouse fire and luckily crews were ventilating and had a ground ladder in place. He bails out head first and is guided down by another firefighter. Crews quickly knocked the fire down from the interior. Courtesy of www.firehelmetcamera.com
FLASHOVER WHAT NOT TO DO!!!
Four firefighters become completely involved in a flashover, during a live-fire exercise. Due to strict use of PPE, mandated by the Training Chief and Safety Officer, only one small first-degree burn was suffered. Watch as a firefighter starts up a positive pressure ventilation fan and the flashover occurs. Courtesy of www.firehelmetcamera.com
BACKDRAFT Close Call
A firefighter without gear sizes up a dwelling fire before the 1st pumper arrives and as he walks back to the front of the house, a backdraft / smoke explosion occurs which almost injures him. This video shows the dangers we face everyday on what we would consider a "routine" house fire. Courtesy of www.firehelmetcamera.com
Why We Protect The Scene
This is an EXCELLENT video which shows the need for proper placement of apparatus during incidents on the highway. The Mesquite Fire Department properly placed their pumper to protect the scene. An 18 wheeler jackknifes and takes the pumper out. You can see workers diving over the divider and a firefighter gets out of the pumper after the accident and falls to the ground. These guys were doing their job and saved some lives just by proper apparatus placement! Can you imagine if the pumper was parked in front of the incident? Courtesy of www.firehelmetcamera.com
