January 5th 2008 At 2218hrs guilford fire units where dispatched to the reported structure fire on moosehill rd. The dispatcher stated enroute that it was a confirmed bedroom fire and all occupants where out of the structured. While enroute Guilford's Chief Herschaft started a R.I.T from Branford and surrounding tankers, due to the nature of the dispatch. Upon arrival units found fire showing from the structure. Units made an aggressive interior attack and the fire was extinguished. All parties in the home where accounted for and theyre were no reported injuries.
January 5th 2008 Fire Engineering came to the town of guilford to film a video for a new safety and survival project they are in the process of producing. Guilford Firefighters participated in live burns and tactical operations on the fireground to help produce the video for Fire Engineering below are pictures from the day.
December 22nd 2007 On the night of December 21st 2007 a man was riding his quad when himself and the ATV fell through the partially Lanes Pond. At 1007 on December 22nd Guilford Fire units recieved the call to assist with the recovery of the ATV from icy water. Units arrived to find a quad partially submerged in the ice approx 200ft out. Units worked dilligently to remove the ATV however due to a mechanical failure where forced to wait until the next morning to remove the ATV. The ATV was removed from the water the next morning and there where no reported injuries.

December 9th 2007 On the morning of 12\9\07 at 0253hrs Guilford Firefighters responded to lakeside drive for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival units found a well involved cottage and called the working fire. Tanker shuttle operations where initiated from the nearby lake. Mutual Aid R.I.T teams where activated from Branford and North Madison. 1 Firefighter was transported to the hospital with burns to his legs, he has been released and is recovering. All units where clear the scene at 15:34hrs ***Update: 1\5\08 The Injured Firefighter has returned to full active duty.
September 28th 2007 On 9\28\07 at 1000hrs Guilford Fire units where dispatched to North Street for the report of a bedroom fire. Upon arrival Fire Chief Herschaft called a signal 20 working fire on the 1st floor of a 2.5 story wood. . The hose crew encountered zero visability throughout the fire attack. The primary search came up negative by the Rescue Crew. The fire was knocked in the hallway and bedroom and a 2nd line was stretched to the 2nd floor to cut off the fire spread in the balloon frame structure. 2nd floor crews did an excellent job of opening up and stopping the rapid spreading fire within the walls. Secondary search came up negative and all occupants where accounted for. Branford Crews responded as R.I.T and carried out overhaul once North Madisons R.I.T arrived and relieved them. All units where clear at approx 1200hrs.
August 1st 2007 At 0405 hours Guilford Fire units where dispatched to the report of a structure fire on Edwin Court. The call came from the neighbor stating she could see flames from her window at the adjacent residence. Upon arrival units found the 8000sqft house collapsed in on itself and fully involved. Fire units operated multiple handlines and tower master streams. The incident was deemed under control at 0646 hrs.
September 18th 2007 At 11:37 hours Guilford Fire Units where dispatched to the report of a 2 car head on MVA IFO 588 Durham Road. Unit 1-0 arrived on scene reporting extrication will be needed on both vehicles. Heavy Rescue 191 was the first apparatus on scene and started extrication on one of the involved vehicles. Engine 153 arrived and operated its tool on the 2nd vehicle. Both occupants where extricated within 5 minutes of the first due apparatus's arrival. 3 Patients where transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. The incident was deemed under control at 1200 hrs.
May 13th 2007
At 0042 hrs Guilford units where dispatched to I-95 Northbound for the MVA with injuries, called in by the State Police. 1-0 Arrived on scene and reported a 2 car MVA with heavy damage and extrication will be needed on both vehicles involved. Extrication completed on both vehicle in under 15 minutes. Guilford units transported 2 priority 1 patients while Madison ambulance also transported 1 priority 1 patient. All units cleared by 0205 hrs. May 7th 2007 At 16:48hrs Guilford units where dispatched to 800 Boston Post Road for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival the incident commander reported a partially involved greenhouse with no exposures. Personnel stretched an 1 3\4" crosslay off the first due pump and made fast work of the fire. The incident was placed under control at 17:10hrs and all units where clear at 17:34hrs.
April 21st 2007
At 15:49hrs Guilford Firefighters responded to the report of an unoccupied vehicle submerged in a pond in North Guilford. Upon arrival Captain Chris Gode assumed command of the incident, the IC immediately requested the Dive Team to his location to set up vehicle recovery operations. All fluids where contained, and the vehicle was removed from the pond at approx 16:45hrs. The depth of the pond where the vehicle came to rest was approx 20ft.
